Determining the Need for Dentures

Posted .

If you’re troubled about whether you need false teeth, don’t fret: the Corey I. Johnson D.D.S., P.C. staff and Dr. Corey Johnson have put together this data for you. Read on and let us know if you have any further questions during your next appointment.

To diagnose whether you might need false teeth. Dr. Corey Johnson will observe the current health of your oral cavity. If they find that you are missing an excessive number of teeth or that your remaining teeth are mostly in poor shape, they may recommend that you think about partial or complete false teeth. If you are only missing a couple of pearly whites and the teeth you do have are in awesome shape, they may recommend a dental bridge to replace the missing teeth instead of false teeth.

The main need for dentures develops from a shortage of healthy chompers. This can be caused by gum disease, cavities or many other oral diseases. Grinding and pressing on teeth related to conditions such as temporomandibular joint disorder can also cause tooth loss. Dental trauma, facial accidents, pregnancy, malnutrition and drug use can also result in tooth loss. Whenever a tooth is missing, dentures may be an option.
