Protect Your Teeth: Don’t Open Things with Them

Posted .

Think it or not, there are multiple things that people use their teeth for that they shouldn’t. From ripping plastic to smashing shells, we’ve seen multiple teeth hurt after inappropriate usage. Regrettably, during this holiday season, we see an increase in this type of emergency. Here are some things you can pay attention to keep yourself protected and your teeth healthy.

During this gift-giving time of year, multiple people use their teeth to open things: don’t do this! Your teeth are meant for slicing, tearing and chewing, but not for opening presents! If you open a gift with your teeth, you might be in for a major restorative visit with our staff. Another concern we’ve noticed is people opening alcohol and soda bottles with their teeth: we can’t stress enough how damaging this is! Spend a tiny bit of extra time to find a bottle opener and keep yourself a lot of time and uneasiness from repairing broken teeth.

Pencil in your next checkup with Dr. Corey Johnson by calling 970-945-9119, and the Corey I. Johnson D.D.S., P.C. team in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, will take care of you. Do your best not to open presents with your teeth, and we’ll congratulate you on your patience during your next appointment! Enjoy your holidays and have a happy new year!
